Update

So I finally have internet hooked up. In theory, I should be able to update this blog a lot more frequently.

After the initial shock wore off, motherhood has been great. I am really enjoying it. What I am most grateful for is that I am surrounded by people who are already parents. Firstly, Robert has two children from a previous relationship. While the whole breastfeeding thing is new to him - he has been extremely helpful and supportive. I have noticed a real positive change in Robert - he seems happier.

Secondly and thirdly, Dallas and Carrie. Carrie's little one was born 16 days before Evan so I think we're both grateful that we have someone else in the same boat going through the same things. As for Dallas - I cannot say enough about her and how valuable her friendship has been during this whole process.

Anyway, I am learning day by day - just like Dallas and Carrie. Here is one of my favorite pictures of my boy!

Update

Sorry that so much time has gone by since my last update. It's a little challenging to update this thing while I don't have internet!

So my news - Evan was born on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 7:39 in the morning. He was 8 pounds, 9 ounces! I had to have him by c-section. I was progressing nicely (up to 8 cm) but I spiked a fever and Evan's heart rate went up. As it turns out, he was face up with the cord around his neck - so a c-section was inevitable.

So far, Robert, Evan and I are doing really well. I recuperated nicely from the c-section. At my 6 week appointment this week, I found out I lost 41 pounds! Holy crap! Finally, all that time I spent at the gym and I am finally seeing results!
