Greetings from Victoria

Evan and I are having a wonderful time in Victoria. Except for the first two and extremely rainy days, I think Victoria is having a wonderful time hosting us.

Again, I forgot my USB cable for my camera, so I cannot upload any pictures. But I can tell you that the weather has been great and the flowers and plant life here are thriving. As I write this post, Evan is in his stroller, on the patio having a nap in the glorious sun. I will post more details about our trip when I get home.

I am continuing to introduce all kinds of new foods to Evan. So far on this trip -

Peaches 1 ( big hit)
Green Beans 0 (a big miss)

A couple of days ago, Evan discovered that he could clap his hands. Such fun!

Fun Weekend!

Evan and I had an awesome weekend with dear old friends.

It all began with our trip out to the Will's. My friend Jenn was kind enough to drive us out to Dallas place - the caveat...her car would just all of a sudden stall at inopportune moments. Actually, it wasn't that bad. Evan pretty much slept the whole time, and I'd like to think that I helped diffuse the situation. We stalled three times on the way out, and while we waited for the car to 'recover' we spent the time catching up. Hopefully Jenn's trip home yesterday was smooth and uneventful.

Once we finally got to our destination - we had a yummy dinner of quesadillas and all the fixins. While Darren was off playing poker, we snacked and visited until the wee hours of the morning.

Evan was so good. He is becoming a lot more social with Paige. Before, Paige's screams and squeals would make him burst into to tears. Now - he interacts a lot more with Paige. I know there's a bit of an age difference (16 months) but I hope they grow up to be great friends.

Heavy Lids

So here's a rundown of our day:

3:30 am-ish - Awoke to find poor Evan vomitting all over the bed. Likely a side-effect from his immunizations. The sheets were soaked, his pj's were soaked and it was all in his hair.

3:30-4:00 am - Stripped Evan down, removed sheets from my bed, put on clean sheets with major back-up (absorbant pad, receiving blankets and towel)

4:00 am - Put Evan in clean pj's and nurse him.

4:10 am - Evan vomits what he just ate. Thankfully, this didn't require another sheet change - just put receiving blankets and towel in the now growing pile of laundry.

4:20 am - Evan is as happy as can be. I'm not too eager to feed him just yet. Go into living room, sit in Poang and rock Evan to sleep while watching 'Caroline in the City' on the W Network.

5:00 am - Evan and I finally get back to bed.

6:30 am - Evan wakes up to eat.

7:30 am - Robert comes over to do relief work and Evan is up for the day.

Today, we had our Stars and Strollers date with Carrie and Lily. Evan was fine the entire time...until we got settled at home. He vomited again shortly after I fed him. He has been asleep since about 8:00 pm.

I am so ready for bed right now.

Completely Off!

Today, we had Evan's six-month immunizations and check-up today. Boy was I ever completely off. I figured Evan would be almost 17 pounds now. Wrong! He weighed 15 pounds 9 ounces. The nurse told me that he should weigh a little bit more but since he is so active and is teething, that may account for the slower weight gain. She just encouraged me to breastfeed him more. His needles went well. He didn't cry for the first needle until she removed it. For second and third needles, he cried a lot.

Today he has been pretty good. If he isn't napping - he's usually playing and babbling a lot. Given what happened after his last set of shots - this is a good thing.

Here is my (latest) favourite picture of my boy having fun with his Auntie:

Here is another of him having fun with his Auntie Carrie - she's the one giving him rabbit ears:

So Lame!

I can't believe it has been over a week since I last posted to this blog. It has just been such a whirlwind of activity. We've been busy introducing Evan to his first solid foods. So far, cereal is a hit - but it is an even bigger hit when it is mixed with apple sauce or bananas. Right now, the jury is out on mashed potatoes.

On Friday, Evan and I met Dallas and Carrie (and Paige and Lily) for lunch at Boston Pizza before heading to the Mom Pop & Tots Fair. Our lunch was really good and the kidlets were so well behaved. Lily sat very patiently in her stroller and Evan sat very willingly in the high chair - although he kept trying to chew the table. Paige was so good with Lily and Evan. She just wants to love all over those two. The Mom Pop & Tots Fair was alright. Evan had a blast with his Auntie Dallas who was making him giggle and laugh so hard. I have the sweetest picture, but need to get permission from Dallas to post it.

I picked up the cutest pair of shoes for Evan. They are very cute and will squeak when he walks.

On Saturday, we went to Kotoukis on the South Side to celebrate a friend's birthday. This meant leaving Evan with Carrie and Bryan for the night. By all reports, Evan was fine for about 20 minutes - when he realized I was gone. I had a great time at the restaurant. I danced with the belly dancer and even managed to do some greek dancing in my pointy-toed stilleto boots without falling on my butt. I picked up a sleepy (and hungry) Evan at around 11 pm.

Today, we just took it easy, mostly because I was wiped from the previous night's celebrations.

Tomorrow, Evan has his 6 month immunizations. I'm not really sure what to expect this time. After his 2 month shots, he was very quiet and introverted and slept a lot. After his 4 month shots, he was okay for the first day but became very uncomfortable the next day. I guess what I have learned is to expect the unexpected when it comes to Evan.

First Foods - A hit and a miss

That looks interesting.

I don't know about this!!

This is not fun!

Okay I guess that wasn't so bad.
