Quickie!
So I thought I would quickly post a wonderful picture that Dallas took of Evan and I. I don't have many pictures of Evan and I - and I have to say that we both look good. Evan is looking less like a baby and more like a little boy every day.

Soooo much work!
So, I've finished the second week of the campaign and I can't believe how much work it is.
Poor Evan is so tired by the time we get home, he isn't always interested in dinner. He's dropped off at daycare when it opens - 7 am. I pick him at around 5:30 or shortly thereafter. We come home, eat, play for a bit and then he's in bed. I'm not too far behind him.
Technically speakng - the campaign runs 7 days a week!! This is where I play the baby card. There's no way I am working 28 days straight without a day off!
With that my friends - I bid you all adieu because I'm going to bed soon.

If you've been under a rock....
...then this will probably be the first time you hear that there is going to be a provincial election on March 3rd.
Starting tomorrow, I'm working at the Liberal Party office. Although we'll all be hitting the ground running, I just found out a piece of good news.
They don't want us dressing up at all - especially if we aren't out and about representing the party. They want us to dress casually and comfortably.
Hoodies, denim and sneakers....HERE I COME!!!!

Waiting!
This afternoon, my colleagues and I headed over to the Alberta Liberal Party office on 124 Street to sign our contracts and have a quickie orientation. Now...all we can do is wait for the election writ to be dropped. For those who aren't up to speed, I currently work as a Senior Administrator for the Alberta Liberal Caucus. Bascially, we support the Libeal MLAs in their roles in the Legislature and as critics of the government. About a month ago, the Alberta Liberals' Campaign Chair approached me about working for them during the election. Naturally, I had concerns about salary and scheduling. Once those concerns had been addressed, I felt there was no good reason not to go work on the upcoming election campaign.
Like I said...now we all wait. At least I now know what I will be doing on this campaign. I will be in charge of Media Monitoring. What does that mean? Well, I am responsible for the following:
1. ensuring the relevant segments of morning, lunch hour, evening and late evening TV news and radio broadcasts are recorded.
2. Maintain an archivl system of the recoded TV and radio broadcasts.
3. On a daily basis, review recorded segments of TV and radio station broadcasts, newspaper clippings, and wire service information.
4. Summarizing information from TV, radio, newspaper, and wire service sources and distribute electronically to campaign staff 3 times daily: 7:30 am, 1:30 pm, 7:30 pm.
5. Provide verbal reports on selected media coverage at daily war room meetings, at 7:30 am and 7:30 pm
6. Monitor selected radio stations throughout the day and provide regular updates on election-related coverage to the War Room Manager and other campaign staff.
It sounds like a lot - and it is - but I won't be doing it myself. I have another girl working with me who will cover the evening and most of the weekend coverage.
If you don't know who to vote for....I'm begging you to help me stay employed and VOTE LIBERAL!
Wish me luck!

Totally Unacceptable!
Well, my dear friend Dallas has updated her blog 5 times since having sweet baby Blake, and I've update zero times! What's my excuse? Well, I don't have one. I'm not juggling two children...just one! I'm not recovering from a c-section. I also don't have a newborn stuck to my chest 24/7. For that matter, I don't even have Evan stuck to my chest at all!!
The coming weeks and months are going to busy and exciting. This weekend, I'm going to a winter celebration and on Sunday I'm back at my scrapbooking group. Next Sunday, my friend Erin and I are hosting a party (albeit at Dallas' house) for Dallas and Blake. Thr rumours are strong that an election will be called on February 4th, so I'll be working at the Liberal Party office starting February 5th. On the 8th, I'm doing a cardmaking workshop at my friend's - my mom is (gladly!) taking Evan that day. The ultimate treat for me comes around mid-April. I'll have my very first weekend away from Evan. Now it isn't because of any hang-ups I've had about leaving him. It is just that the opportunity really hasn't presented itself. My brother and his wife will take Evan for the weekend while I go on a scrapbooking retreat at Pigeon Lake. In addition to scrapbooking, they also offer spa services while we're there. I may even indulge in a massage!
