Evan's New Bed

As mentioned in a previous post, I have been slowly gathering stuff for when Evan moves into a big boy bed. Along with the popular vote - and my gut feeling - here is Evan's bedding:

This is the bed frame we've chosen for him: Evan won't be moving into his big-boy bed anytime soon. I still need to babyproof his room a bit.

Here's some food for thought. A co-worker of mine was asking if I would get a guard rail for his bed. When I hummed and hawed - because honestly, Evan hasn't fallen out of bed anytime he's slept in a twin or double - she said, "You know, it's surprising the we as adults don't fall out of bed at night." Interesting. What is it that prevents us grown ups from falling out bed each night?

Have a good weekend!

Crazy Cow

For some reason, and as annoying as this video is, Evan LOVES this video. He starts laughing, squealing and dancing whenever it comes on the television.

Robert thinks the townhouse is haunted....seriously!

Late Friday evening, we were in the living room watching 'Hannibal Rising' when I thought I heard Evan cry out. I double checked with Robert and asked if he heard Evan cry. When Robert confirmed that he had indeed heard Evan cry, I went upstairs to check on him. When I peeked into his crib, he was sleeping soundly on his side.

I went back downstairs and again asked Robert if he had heard Evan cry. Robert, again, confirmed that he heard Evan cry. We both just wrote it off as Evan crying in his sleep from a bad dream.

On Saturday afternoon, Evan and I were napping together in the main bedroom and Robert was napping on the couch in the living room. Robert tells me that he was awoken from his nap by me calling his name loudly and distinctly. He bolted upstairs only to find Evan and I sound asleep.

So now, Robert thinks the townhouse might be haunted. I'm wondering if he might be right.

Djur or Snurr

I am slowly gathering stuff for when Evan finally moves into a big boy bed. I need some help. I am torn between two different bedding sets from IKEA. I need your vote. Evan's room has white walls and beige carpeting. He has a roller shade in navy blue and his bed will either be white or a medium stained wood.

Do you think I should go with this one that comes with two pieces, including a comforter cover with a different design on each side.... or this one that comes with three pieces...same design on each side of the comforter cover. The stripe is actually red and, although you can't tell, there is a white squiggle running up and down the blue stripe.

Wha..What?!?

After last night's election, all I can say is that I am almost speechless.

No one expected us to lose any, much less nearly half of our seats. We all figured the worst case scenario would have us with roughly the same number of MLAS - but not half of the MLAs we had prior to the election.

Instead of having the next few days off to relax and unwind, we're all back at the office getting ready to help those MLAs who did not get re-elected pack up their offices. It is going to be very hard to say good bye to these wonderful people I have worked with since 2005.

While I don't understand why Albertans made this decision, the decision has been made and I have to move forward. So far, it looks like my job is safe, but I will have confirmation later this week. In the meantime, I have a ticket to the Leader's Dinner tommorow night AND a babysitter for Evan. Looking at the short-term outcomes, life is looking good.
