Still sick!

I'm still sick today, but I feel a bit more energetic than yesterday. My throat is still a bit sore and my head feels pretty foggy. I just went home after work yesterday and relaxed. I took a nice hot bath and took it easy. I didn't even have the energy to make dinner. I went to bed at around 11ish and woke up sometime after 8 this morning.

I had a really pleasant surprise when I checked my e-mail this morning. My good friend Angela scanned and e-mailed us a bunch of pictures from her wedding. I just cannot believe how good everyone looked. I don't think I'll ever look that nice until I get married. Check this picture out for instance:

Too be honest, I don't even remember posing for most of the pictures. By the time we got to the Legislature it was so cold and windy, we were just trying to hurry up and get it over with. I don't even remember posing for this picture with Angela:

You would never ever guess that we were freezing cold! Anyway, today may be a short work day if I start to feel really tired or my throat keep hurting!!! Everyone stay warm!!

Blame Game

Well, it is official. I am sick. Or at least the doctor at the MediCentre thinks that I am. I woke up yesterday with a sore throat. I thought I might have been overtired. I went to book club last night and drank lots of juice and tea. When I woke up this morning, my throat wasn't any better. I tried to call my doctor's office and they could not get me in until 3:20 pm tomorrow. I just locked up the office and headed to the closest MediCentre. The doctor prescribed me some amoxicillin. Hopefully I will start to feel better soon. The last time I was sick to the point I needed a prescription was almost two years ago. Now I don't want to play the blame game, but Robert was so tired and feverish this weekend. He thought his body was fighting off an illness. Is it possible that he feels 100 percent better because I was such a nice girlfriend and took on whatever virus or bacteria his body was fighting? I'm not even going to bring it up with him because:

1. There's no point. What's done is done....I'm sick.
2. I don't want him to feel badly.

Last night, I went to book club. It was a pretty good discussion considering I didn't finish the book. It was a collection of essays by Dominic Dunne about various criminal trials of the rich and famous. I had a hard time getting through it because I was too young to remember most of the trials he wrote about. I didn't have a point of reference. I only recognized two cases...the Menendez Brothers and the O.J. Simpson trial. At that, I barely have any recollection of the Menendes Brothers' trial. Our next novel is going to by The Reckoning by Sue Walker. It sounds like an interesting novel. I'm certain I will have plenty of time to read it while I recover!

Weekly Update

So, I haven't posted in a week. I didn't do too much aside from work and go to the gym.

On Wednesday night, Robert and I went to the Stonehouse for cheap beer and wing night. It was so good. I must have been really thirsty because I guzzled two mugs of Coors Light. We had a new flavour (well, for me anyways) of wings...Honey Hot.

On Saturday, I trekked out to the west end to pick up some prescriptions for Robert and I. We met at Edmonton City Centre to catch a matinee with the movie passes given to us by my aunt and uncle. We decided on King Kong. While the special effects were kind of cool, it will not win any acting awards.

Yesterday, we just lazed around for a while. I went to my parents' for dinner and Robert went to the gym. Tomorrow, I have book club for a book I haven't even finished reading yet. I guess I have some heavy duty reading to do.

Weekend Update

Okay, so my weekend updates are not nearly as funny as those on Saturday Night Live...but I'd like to think that some people find them entertaining.

On Friday night, Robert and I went for dinner at Lux Steakhouse & Bar. When we first got there, the waitress asked if we had reservations. We told her we didn't and she said she would see what she could do. I think it was some kind of stalling tactic because many tables were free. Anyway, after we were seated, we checked out the menu. YOWZA! It was pricey. We started with the best tasting spinach and artichoke dip. We also ordered some pretty tasty ceasers. They had a whole page of different varieties of ceasers, so we were both in heaven. We each ordered a New York Strip steak. You had to order your sides seperately. Our amazing waiter told us that the potatoes could easily be shared. So on his advice, we shared some potatoes and mushrooms. The dinner was amazing. The steaks tasted so good and were so tender. The accompanying side dishes were amazing! We only wish we had room for dessert because I'm sure they would be equally amazing. Our bill was pretty substantial, so it is not a place we'll eat at very often...but we will eat there again.

On Saturday, we really didn't do much. I went to do some shopping and scored two pairs of jeans at the Gap for $40 each. Both Robert and I were so tired we just vegetated. Dallas had invited us over to watch the game and have some drinks, but we didn't get the message until it was too late.

Yesterday, we had another very lazy day. We went for lunch at Albert's and came back and vegetated in front of the television. The timer buzzer on my stove won't shut off without unplugging the stove, so Robert tried to fiddle with it. And the buzzer did stop...for two minutes!! So I think tonight, I will take off the back panel and disable the clock and timer on my stove.

Today, Robert came to my office...but not without getting lost first. He assured me that he knew where he was going. Apparently he walked into the wrong building and got attacked by a puppy!! Anyway, he took me for lunch to Martini's. It was sooooo good. I had a shrimp and scallop fettucine alfredo, and Robert had a curry shrimp pasta. Hopefully he doesn't smell too much of curry tonight...although it might be payback for the garlicky stench I was giving off after dinner with Dallas at the Mongolie Grill.

Tonight is laundry night and hopefully killing the timer buzzer on the stove!

It's been a while!

It has been far too long since my last post. I was fortunate enough to have some time off around Christmas and New Year's. Fortunately, I did not spend it in front of my computer.

Christmas was very nice. We went over to Craig and Jodi's in the afternoon to open gifts and have a light lunch. After I opened my gift from Craig and Jodi, we discovered that Robert had also bought me the same gift...an MP3 player. Robert said he would return mine and get me something else. I couldn't believe it! It was only then that it dawned on the three of them that they should have probably talked to one another! Afterwards, we went to my aunt's house for dinner. The dinner was so good and we were sent home with plenty of leftovers.

Our office was open December 28, 29 and 30th. It was a very quiet week, and December 30th was my last day working in the bowels of Southwest Edmonton.

My New Year's was uneventful but very enjoyable. I went for breakfast at Albert's with the Wills. We took a quick detour to Linens N Things. We had a relaxing day before we had to go to a party. Actually, we wound up napping until almost 7:30 pm. I wasn't feeling so hot, so Dallas being the sweetheart she is, drove me home at around 12:30.

This brings us to today. Today, I started my new job at Laurie Blakeman's office. So far so good.
