Nothing!

Well, I was so thrown off and worked up by my first encounter with O. in over a year and a half that I forgot to mention that I also ran into someone I went to junior high with. I ran into Lucas McCaw and his girlfriend, Jade - who I might add is very pretty! It's a good thing that Lucas recognized and stopped me. I have a tendency to walk with blinders on, so I would have completely missed him. I introduced him to Robert and my co-workers and we quickly caught up with each other's lives.

Saturday (and Sunday for that matter) was a completely lazy day. Robert came over to do laundry. The building he and his roomates live in has been sold and is being converted to condos. Normally, he would buy tokens from the building manager. However, since the building has been converted to condos - there is no building manager and consequently...no laundry tokens. I also headed over to my parents' condo to water their indoor plants and download some music. Sunday - we did a whole lot more of nothing, minus the laundry. It was actually pretty nice. I wanted to go grocery shopping or even head over to the Italian market for some nice bread, deli meat and ice cream (Pinnochio!!), but I really did not feel like going out in the rain at all yesterday.

I watched Big Brother last night - wondering whether or not to call Dallas freaking out about what everyone is doing wrong and how we would play the game so much better!

Stuffed silly!

So it has been a ridiculously slow week at the constituency office. I guess the good weather keeps all of the crazies outdoors and happy!

Today, Robert met up with my co-workers and I for Taste of Edmonton. While it rained for a little bit, we still had a really good time. It wasn't too crowded and we had lots of good food. We first tried the buffalo skewers from Normands. Robert and I then had a chili garlic shrimp on curry rice. Very very tasty. There was a moment of weirdness however. We were browsing the booths and we came across the Hilton Garden Inns booth and who was working there...Orville. I just took Robert's arm and we moved along - quickly. Do I feel badly about not stopping to say hello? Absolutely not. Some of you may remember a hateful e-mail he sent me last June trying to use our history together to cast doubt in my mind about Robert. He even admitted in a later e-mail that he had lied. Anyway, I wasn't even the last person to talk to him - last June, Robert told Orville I did not want talk to him anymore and I did not want him to call.

Needless to say, and as you can tell, this kind of took me by surprise today. I didn't think our paths would cross...especially at Taste of Edmonton.

After that brief encounter - all four of us continued to pig out like animals. Robert and I shared Garlic Potatoes and some ginger beef. We all went for a second round of buffalo skewers and then finished off with different desserts. Robert had balsamic straberries with vanilla creamcheese mousse. Jim had a beaver tail and I had strawberries in Grand Marnier with vanilla cream.

I still have a whole bunch of tickets left - so if we go to a movie tonight, we may stop in for a snack!!!!

I'm lucky!

So the wedding this past weekend was fabulous. Despite the blistering heat, it was a very nice ceremony. Once my brother and Peter e-mail me some pictures, I will post themm. My mom bought me a dress that was on sale (of course) at Holt Renfrew. It is a simple, long, brown silk dress. It is sleeveless and has a scoop neck. However, after wearing it once - it already needs to be dry cleaned!

Robert spent the entire weekend working - again, so I spent Sunday at my parents' place applying for jobs and working on my budget. Their condo is air-conditioned, so I wound up taking a two-hour nap while I was there.

Last night, Robert and I went to Boston Pizza to get some relief from the heat and humidity. We had dinner and a few drinks. We decided to go and play the VLTs - which we never do. Robert threw in about $30 and after a few spins, he got a line of jackpot symbols. He won just over $500. He immediately cashed out. The waitresses told him I was his lucky charm! He's definitely got a horseshoe up his ass somewhere! Last night was the first time he had gambled since his big win last October. Hey it's no $8000 win - but we were both pretty happy with how much he won.

Another week goes by...

I don't know if it is just me, but it seems like time is going by so quickly. Friday seems to come so quickly!

Last night, my parents and I went for manicures and dinner at Kotouki's. It was a very pleasant evening. Aside from getting gel nails done, I have never had a professional manicure before. It was kind of fun. I'm really not used to wearing nail polish and worrying about smudging 5 minutes after leaving the spa. Oh well.

Earlier this week, I burned my arm semi-badly on the inside of my oven door. I was making oven-roasted potatoes and I guess the oil and pan got too hot and started smoking. The smoke detector was going off and I was panicking to get the pan out of the oven. I grazed my right arm on the oven door. The oven was heated to about 500 degrees! Anyway, all is well - the potatoes didn't burn. In fact, they were a big hit! I've been wearing Second Skin Bandages all week in the hopes of avoiding a nast scar.

Today, I had a job interview with the Alberta Mental Health Board for a Communications Coordinator position. I took the morning off of work. I really should have taken the whole day off. Oh well.

Tomorrow, I'm going to my first same-sex wedding. A good family friend is tying the know tomorrow at Robertson-Wesley United Church and they are having the wedding reception at Whitemud Community Hall.

Tonight, if the weather isn't too stiffling, we might go to a Taste of Edmonton. On the other hand, EDfest at Capital Ex is free tonight and Default is headlining the show - so that is another option.

Shopping Bags and BBQs

So while I haven't had any more encounters with boys wearing grillz - I certainly had a busy weekend. Robert worked all weekend - so I was pretty much on my own most of the time. On Saturday, I went out to my Auntie Wendy's place for a BBQ. We had a lot of fun! Before dinner, we all had a swim in their outdoor pool. We had an amazing dinner. Filet mignon, potatoes, salad, baked beans, grilled peppers, onions and mushrooms and fresh bread! For dessert, we had Angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream. Top that off with a few alcoholic beverages - and I was a happy lady! We had a really good visit with Wendy and her husband Dave. They were very instrumental in helping me move into the apartment. In fact, if it were up to Dave, we would have moved everything in on that one Saturday they helped. Both he and my Aunt Wendy have health issues, so my family and I had to put our foot down and tell them they had done enough. But I digress...

Yesterday, my mom and I went shopping - even though I was not in the mood. We needed to exchange some pants and tops she had purchased for me at Talbots. We came away with another pair of black pants and a super cute black and white skirt.

Well - we hadn't counted on buying the skirt, so we had to go to Addition-Elle at Kingsway to find a top to go with the skirt. The top that I liked at Addition-Elle wasn't available in my size - so they're bringing it in from another store and my mom will pick it up this week. As much as I was not in the mood to try on clothes - I will be very accomodating, especially when my mom is paying! There was another skirt at Talbots that I really liked and I will probably go back and purchase on my own.

Thoughts?
